Tanna & Inna and the Big McGees

Two best friends writing about their lives, interests, and concerns.

I’m not crazy, just Eccentric July 26, 2009

As I was walking back from the supermarket today (to buy my sustenance of Haribo candy – ie gummy bears, yogurt, and sparkling water) I saw this little dude lost on the sidewalk.

And because I owed it to you, our dear blog readers, I stopped and took a picture, even though quite a few people passed and gawked. I think that was mostly because I was attempting to get a view of his little red face but it was to no avail. Those pictures all came out too blurry… sorry those above are also somewhat blurry, he wasn’t in the mood to stop and pose for a shot (you can click on the pictures to make them bigger).

Have I mentioned I love caterpillars? When I was little I had a notebook which I wrote down every detail about them, very scientific-like. I really have no idea where that notebook is, but the fact I wrote one was part of my essay application letter for grad school. I also mentioned that I would capture the caterpillars in glass-jars, feed them some leaves and sometimes forget them there for days, only to return to some dead mushy guys.

I was thinking about putting this guy back in the tree, he definitely looked lost, but I’m not used to the american caterpillars and wasn’t sure if this one was poisonous.  Plus, I didn’t want anyone to think I was any more crazy for crouching down in the middle of the sidewalk to take a picture of the caterpillar. I just left him there, on his own. Its too bad I might actually run into those people again and then they will point and laugh.

Oh well, the tough life of being somewhat eccentric.

~ Inna

ps- I tried and tried to find the correct species of this dude so that I could post a better picture and possibly a picture of the butterfly or moth it becomes, but I couldn’t find it. If any of you know which one it is, I’d love to know!

Awww cute! I needed to see something happy. I’m still waiting for my plane to leave (late as usual, at least the makeup flight wasn’t cancelled to, but I don’t like red eyes, they make me cranky!)

Yep ignore my spelling/grammar issues, it’s late dude
